Beside the rich cultural and historical heritage the area is also abound in natural treasures. The quality wine production of South Transdanubia is famous all around Europewide, and the area is rich in thermal and medicinal waters, which gives an excellent possibility for tourism. The region with its two universities and research centres is one of the intellectual centres of Hungary. In the production sector the agriculture and the food industry connected to it, as well as the energy production and the tourism stand at an outstanding position, and here, in Parks, can be found the country’s only atomic power station.
